Here I am.
Back home. Safe and sound. Alhamdulillah.The last few days in KK after our VIVA was epic.
We had our Geofarewell BBQ dinner at UMS's very own private beach on May 7.

There were food (lots of `em), speeches from our lecturers (almost all of `em came), sesi luahan hati between classmates (few of `em did teared up), gift-exchanging etc
It was one of the best gathering I've had so far. Since everyone was busy getting verification from their supervisors and markers of their thesis ( i was one of them too. Running around the school up and down), everyone felt so relieved that night.

May 8 : Karen, Angel, Ronny and I sent off Shalini to the airport.She's going back to her hometown in Pahang.

May 9 : It's Ronny's turn to fly back to Kuching. I was supposed to meet up with Ronny for our internship in Kuching. Different company, but still, in Kuching. But then the next day, he texted me that he'll be send off to Bintulu for god sake! mannnn..there was no proper goodbye, really.

May 10 : Karen, Angel and I ran around running errands. Settling our internship paperworks, thesis etc. And we got off just in time for me to go to the airport. My flight back to Penang was at 5pm. I managed to control my tears. I hold myself back, not to cry. Coz I know if I cry, Karen will start sobbing too. Though its hard to part with this one close friend of mine, I know for the fact that we will be keeping in touch always and will have more moments together soon. I love you kaban! ;)

I can't help but to feel blessed each and every day.
For the life I'm in now.
For the family, friends, happiness, challenges .
It has never fail to teach me what is life all about.
Family, it isn't as perfect as I want it to be. But I am okay.
Friends. Being far away from the family who knows you your whole life. Friends ease the way.
Challenges. Life has never been a bed of roses for me.
I'm bound to face challenges in my life. Different levels of it.
I have my hard times, my ups and downs.
But that are the things that taught me how to live.
Live life. It isn't the way you want it to be. 24-7.
God is testing you.
For the test, it teach you new things.
Teach you how to deal with matters.

Matters matter in order for you to appreciate life more.
And be humble about it.

This is my first post after the finals are officially over.
Its over!
There will be no more exams in my whole life. AWESOME!
The last paper was Petroleum Geology. I sat in between the two guys Nelson and Ronny at the last line in the lecture hall.
I was pretty much nervous because I don't know what to expect and worst, Karen hasn't arrived yet by time all of us went in and sat at our table already.
Gosh.
She scares me. Even Angeline, Angela, was looking for her.
She made it just in time (in case you wanna know the ending ;))

I answered the questions (dengan gigihnya, of course) sampai bergoyang2 meja tu.haha
Ronny and I were the 1sts to come out and followed by our Datin YB, Nisa.
Ronny and I boarded the bus straight to 1 Borneo for our karaoke session and Shalini, Angeline and Karen came slightly after.
I was wearing baju kurung and sang like i just don't care!

We had lunch and went to Kbox in Karamunsing for another 4 hours of singing.
That was the 1st in my life I've ever did that.
I ended up having husky voice people.
Don't try to belt out songs from all this ballad singers.
They will make you squirm and gasps for air. I assure you that.

All and all, i had a great End-of-Exam celebration with this people.
They know how to have fun and trust me, they're good singers too.
Korean, with lyrics or no lyrics, Hindi, you name it. We're up for it! Haha

I have not been updating the blog properly.
Its unmaintained.
I have to admit it.
I am busy with doing the revision. Last minute, of course.
So, you have to excuse me with that.
On top of that, I'm still waiting for replies from the companies that I applied for industrial training for.
If it wasn't the part of the partial fulfillment for me to graduate, I wouldn't be THIS worried people.
I have uncle working in the oil and gas industry.
And people thought its gonna be easy for me.
Nope.It isn't. He's so not the type that wanna be the "kabel" or "orang dalam".
He wants me to work for it.
He gives me options.
But that's it.
I'm learning life the hard way. He wouldn't want me to be a spoil brat just waiting for things to drop on my lap. Just like that.
I have to say it has been hard on me.
And friends close to me too. We're experiencing life now. And we ain't blaming anybody but ourselves.
We ought to learn.

Besides that, I have my last 2 papers tomorrow and day after tomorrow.
That will be the FINAL papers!
and I have my VIVA VOCE next Tuesday. May 4.
And i'm done here in Sabah.
Industrial training starts on May 17 and I'm still clueless on where I'll be.

Hye ;) i enjoy SIFE for the power it has to reach to different audience with different needs. In SIFE UMS, we have a step by step guide where we have a project according to phases to ensure that we reach short-term goal before the long term ones.We have juniors to always continue the project and not to mention surveys and also discussion with our Business Advisory Board members. So far, it has been showing positive feedbacks from the people we've helped ;)

Events in March

I have 3 most memorable events that took place last month

c) GeoNite 2010 - our annual dinner for the seniors. And this year, we're the ones celebrated

I am thankful really, for the upbringing by my mom and grandparents.
And because of it, it sets me off good.
I am in a good terms wherever I go, because I have no problem fitting in with people, adapting with the new environment, able to endure pain and problems and most importantly, being true to myself.

I also believe that as a girl/woman/perempuan, a good group of girlfriends too will set a good background for you.
Tak kira lah berapa ramai, 2-3, 8, 10 sekalipun, that doesn't matter.
What matters, that having girlfriends taught you how to respect and be friends with others.
In a good friendship, you learn all the good values.
And even if you do part, the values are all still there because you live with it and now you live it.

Growing up, I have the luxury of that.
I thank God for that .
A good group of girlfriends.

I did it!
I beat the odds, and finally deactivated Facebook. Thanks Eza! :D
I shall be focusing on my thesis and my studies.
I have such high expectations on myself and can be a bit hard on myself too sometimes.
I don't whether its good or bad.
But I think I deserve a spank on my ass to get me to work.
I have the mom during high school that constantly reminded me to study so that I won't lazy out.
Now I need that kind of person you see.

Tight schedule, thesis and now, I have a master proposal to get done for the interview on April 8.
I'm doing this people.
I'm doing it.

Although, blog will be updated from time to time.
I can get bored and decides to break something or type some short random posts here just to nag. :D

Aku tak kaya dengan duit, tapi aku kaya dengan pengalaman.
Kau orang boleh beli ka pengalaman aku dengan duit berjuta-juta dalam bank tu?
Ahhh..bagi aku Porsche sebiji pun aku tak ingin.
Seriously.

Aku rasa hidup aku sekarang lebih bermakna bila aku dapat buat benda-benda yang mencabar kemampuan aku sebagai seorang perempuan dewasa yang mempunyai sedikit kekurangan fizikal akibat kecederaan.
Aku rasa, semangat aku melampau-lampau, sampai siapa pun tak dapat halang aku dari panjat Kinabalu and White Water Raft di Padas hari tu eventhough
a) aku tak tau berenang
b) aku ada water phobia yang agak kritikal
c) aku ada dislocated knee

yes.
tu semua alasan ya.
alasan untuk duduk dalam bilik mengadap laptop 24jam, study, and mati.

Kalau aku dapat cerita macam mana perasaan aku masa rafting tu, aku boleh bagi kau orang bayang macam ni la ya.."macam nak tercabut jantung sebab takut mati lemas atau kena hantuk kepala di batu yang besar dan tinggi dekat 2-3 kaki"

dalam hati kecil , ada sikit takut.
Even mak aku sendiri pun ada doubt dengan aku.
Dia kata "bahaya".

Dan lagi bahaya, lagi la aku nak try.
Lagipun, aku rasa dah tabii aku, yang suka buat benda yang orang tak buat.
dan yang paling penting mencabar kemampuan aku sendiri.

Bucket list aku yang seterusnya :
1) paling basic, aku nak belajar berenang then go for scuba diving
2) climb somewhere at the foot of Himalaya, Annapurna

Hidup ni memang pendek. Kalau sekadar terperuk dalam bilik dinding 4 sebelah saja, memang rugi lah hidup!

There was once upon a time where I thought I was going to pursue a degree in Political Science or International Relations or Linguistics.
I like all those things and I think I'm very good with words, reading, memorizing it and writing essays.
Really.

But at the end, when I was done with SPM, i was introduced to Geology.
and there, the other side of me was jumping for joy.
I have a thing for outdoor works.
The one that will make me sweat and at the same time gain me big bucks.
So yes, as my uncle too is in the oil and gas business, I was convinced.
And here I am, about to end the degree in a month!
Boy, this has been quite a journey for me.

There's few sides in you that you never know which one will finally steps up among the others.

Hello. And back from the land of the dead! ;D
Sorry, i was exaggerating.
Truth is, I'm back to life. Back to the reality.
haha!

Yes, an adventure of my life took place yesterday, on a very auspicious day I'd say as it was my mom's birthday and I went to Padas White Water rafting with her partial consent.
She was worried when I called her the night before it happens and at the same time wished her HAPPY BIRTHDAY!
Momsy was worried.
i think she knows a thing or two with me and water.
I've had water phobia for quite some time.
Thanks to the unfateful incident I had when I was 11 or 12? ( i can't recall)
Bear in mind, i can't freaking swim okay people and yet, I'm about to challenge Grade 3-4 Rapids.
And oh, FYI, Padas White Water Rafting is the 2nd most dangerous in Asia, after China's.
one of the tourists also told me, he thinks that Padas should be #1 most dangerous rapid in Asia!
hrmph. I was not make known of the facts before I board the travel agency's van.
Not this much of the information at least!

So yes, I went anyways.
Reached Tenom and board "the last train of Borneo" to Pangi station where we start our rafting there.
The train was very rustic and quaint. It was this coach, with wooden bench and just square unglass windows. and they have the train going "chooo! chooooo!" in between times ;)
I felt so traveled back into time! Gosh.
It was a bit slow though, but it was okay since we're enjoying the beautiful scenaries along the way.
and managed to get a glimpse of the adventure we're gonna go through later.

;)
We reached Pangi and was served with water and watermelon as refreshments before we start.
We had safety briefings.
Equipments checked.
Life jacket and helmet- Checked!

And we're good to go.
Boy, these guides are making me gasps for air as they would constantly pushed me off the raft and let me body raft all the way.
they meant good.
to toughen me up.
And thank you guys. For helping me overcome my phobia. Dalam hati aku, " haihhh, nak overcome phobia pun kat 2nd dangerous rapid Asia!" Baguih betui!!

We went through 7 rapids which are Headhunter, Washing Machine, Snake out, Lambada, Merry-go-round, Cobra, and one more I lupa lah! :D
And few times, the rapids got gnarly and throwned few people off board.
Thank god I wasn't one of `em. I can't afford to swallow another series of water again.

But at the 2nd last's rapid, Merry-Go-round, the guides assembled us at the back of the raft, to do a trick called Flying Fish.
You can imagine how a fish fly (that's how it is for the raft)
and bear in mind, the photographer was there to capture the moment.
Mana nak jaga raft lagi, mana nak pose lagi, mana nak avoid rapid lagi.
Terima kasih, the raft flew!
and i was off board.
Gila. Aku sesak nafas kot, sebab tenggelam and the boat was on top of me. and berat gila kot raft ni. Haisk!
Penat.

But all and all, it was a good, fun and memorable trip.
The lunch we had after was superb. The lamb chop was gooooooddddd ;)
and the train ride back was seriously awesome!!!
Don't know how many times i've mentioned the word "awesome" a long the trip and in the blog. hahaha

I would wanna go back there again.
i'd bring Moja and others here too.
He got white water rafting in his Bucket List too!

I want to talk to her tonight, just before the clock hits 12, but then I guess she's tired and off to bed already.

You taught me the meaning of life.
You gave me the means to live and up till now, you have never cease to make me work hard in achieving all my dreams.
You taught me how to be an independent, strong and courageous woman.
You taught me how to endure hardship.
You taught me how to deal with pain.

I've planned to make a birthday card/photo frame with our photo in and have `em mailed to her all the way in Kedah.
With my tight schedule, I might not have `em ready on time, so its gonna be tad late Mom

It's still considered early to be talking about my birthday which falls on the last day of April
But oh well, I felt like talking about it since I saw friends celebrating birthdays all around.

Honestly, as I grow older, I no more expect presents.
I'm a very sentimental person.
I cherishes photos, celebrations, gatherings more than anything.
As long as there's a celebration with a good group of friends, a camera and I'm a happy birthday girl after all ;)

You people must be wondering right, "why the hell is this girl refuses present?"

Haha.
Don't get me wrong. I LOVE PRESENTS! Give me! Give me!
But you see, as a kid, up till I was in my teenage times, I never have a proper birthday celebration.
For my family, birthdays are just another day of living.
Enough with wishes and kisses on the cheek. And we're good to go ;)
no cakes, no presents etc.
Friends do give me presents such as photo frames. Which I LOVE!
and I keep them up till now.;)

So, when I was in Matrix and now in UMS, friends started to bought presents etc.
That's when I was exposed to it.

Honestly though, I will cherish the moment I have with close friends celebrating it, and with photos as the token of memories ;)

Being realistic, I do have things that I REALLY want for my birthday ;)

1. Nikon d3000 ;)

2. shoes from Nine West

3. A celebration with my close friends where I take a lot of fun crazy photos

4. an Island trip with the family

5. a Blackberry Storm

6. A decent job at an oil & gas company

7. A gym membership

8. To complete my thesis and finally graduate!

But most importantly, I want to grow up to be a responsible,caring and successful 22 year old woman.
I want to achieve all my life goals. I want to work, travel and give a treat to my family.
Love is still far from reach, but I need to love myself more before loving anybody else.

Dah lama tak melawat blogspot. Sorry yea blogspot. Aku dah kawan dengan Tumblr sekarang ni.
Not that I did blogging that often, I'm having writer's block right now and my life ain't that interesting you see.
Hence, the lonely blog.

I have few more weeks left in campus and I'm pretty much stuck with thesis, study , exam, SIFE and catching up on things I should've done few years back here in Sabah.
I know...same old..same old.
Boring in every bit of the story.
I need a LIFE!
Like, seriously.

And that includes, Rafting .
I'm off to Padas River Rafting next Sunday. March 14.
I did Mt. Kinabalu climb last month and now I'm off for more adventures here at the Land Below the Wind.

Its good to be a student. Where everywhere we go, we have that thing called "student rate".
I'm savouring the moment.
The perks of being a student here.
Talk about taking advantage on others. LOL
I paid only RM130 for the whole trip which include transportation, the rafting itself, train ride and also lunch! ;)
Murah kan??

And I am so freaking proud of myself for the money that I used is solely MINE!
From my part time job as a tuition teacher, I save some of the money for things like this.
That I need no permission from my mom whatsoever just because it is costly ;)

Holidays officially ends starting tonight.
My oh my, that all went so fast.
10 days. urgh!
I'm dreading the classes, labs and more lab reports to submit.

Oh no, its midterms season. Luckily I only have 3 subjects to sit for this final semester.
The perks of being the final year student i guess.
But we have thesis to complete and VIVA session for our thesis.
That, should be nerve-wrecking!

Oh ya, I didnt get the chance to post about my Mt Kinabalu climb here. Didn't I?

I was questioned by friends and family about climbing up there given the condition of my knees.
( They're not really doing very good)
and by reading from the website, they encouraged that future climbers should have healthy knees and ankles to go up there.
( I sure the hell understand why during the climb!)

But I was determined.
I want to cross off "Climb a mountain" from my life list.
And I did it!
I took my own sweet time as I was talking to myself throughout the whole process.
I need to get up there. Get my photos taken, watch the sunrise, yes.
I did all of it!

climbed and conquered!

I know I shouldn't doubt myself anymore.
If I want to do something, I will sure as hell do it.
Climbing describes how you are in life in certain ways.
Just take small steps to get you going, and before you know it, you are there.

This little girl I'm tutoring now is a total heartbreaker.

She's 11 years old and my oh my, she talks like an adult.

And her thinking is like one to.

So when I was teaching her for the first time today, she showed me her artwork that she did back when she was 2 years old in Korea.

Oh, by the way, she's a Korean girl ;)

Damn, this girl got skill!

I must say I'm amazed by how polite and jovial she is. Kinda reminds me of my childhood days where I used to talk a lot with my friends around and we had lots of fun.

This girl makes me reminisces. ;)

Hello world.

As of now, my life is currently revolving around the same freaking things. Studying, thesis, SIFE and upcoming exams.

Its shocking how my so-called 3 years degree will end soon.
In another 2 months!

So, as much as I'm focusing on my work now, I can't help thinking of how much of memories have I made out here with friends and classmates.
All the fieldworks, classes, outings, projects and all the achievements.

Its gonna be tad sad to leave the campus and the people in it.
But I'm excited to see what the future holds for me :)

Last few weeks here in campus has been a roller coaster experience for me.
They're days I thought things are working out fine, and turns out few days later, I'm in a downfall.
But it never cease to make me feel that everything happens for a reason.
And He knows best.

I want to make peace with myself and think the opposite.
Always want to give the people who hurts me another chance.
And so, I did. and I ended up hurting myself back, again.

Then I think real hard, why should I dwell on the bad things when they're so many good things happening in my life and I just don't realized it.
I have everything from supportive family, loving friends, a place to stay, a strong-will heart, and talents.
Why should I be sad?
or disappointed?
or angry?

We tend to forget that happiness doesn't come from the result of getting somewhere we don't have, but rather of recognizing and appreciating what we have.

So, I thank friends who has been keeping me sane, and got me laughing.
Friends are needed both for joy and for sorrow. And so, they you are people. :)

Firman-Nya, bermaksud: “Sudah pasti berjaya orang mukmin iaitu orang yang khusyuk dalam solatnya.” (Surah al-Mukminun: 1,2)

Ramai orang cakap solat, tapi sejauh mana khusyuknya solat itu, nobody knows. Except Him.
And so is yours truly.
Solat yang khusyuk sesungguhnya mampu menjauhkan kita dari perkara mungkar.
So if you're still doing what you're used to doing i.e drinking, lying, etc, then your solat is somewhere somehow is not perfect.

There is 5 types of people who prays. And I would like to share it with the readers. There might be points to ponder for everybody and of course myself, Insyaallah.

* Jenis Pertama

Hari ini, ramai umat Islam yang tidak bersolat, bahkan ramai juga yang tidak tahu hendak bersolat. Ada yang menafikan kewajipan solat, mereka jatuh kafir sebab itu kadangkala perangainya dengan si kafir tidak ada beza.

* Jenis Kedua

Orang yang melakukan solat secara zahir saja, malah bacaan pun masih tidak betul, taklid buta dan main ikut-ikut orang lain.

Jadi, golongan ini sekejap bersolat, sekejap tidak. Jika ada masa dan emosi baik, dia bersolat. Kalau sibuk dan ada program kenduri, pesta ria, berziarah, bermusafir, letih dan penat, dia tidak bersolat.

Orang ini jatuh fasik. Tidak belajar solat mahupun secara rasmi atau tidak rasmi. Ilmu mengenai solat ialah apa yang dipelajari ketika kecil dan tadika saja. Golongan ini tertolak, bahkan berdosa besar dan hidup dalam keadaan derhaka kepada Allah.

* Jenis Ketiga

Golongan yang melakukan solat cukup lima waktu, tepat ilmunya, faham setiap bacaan solat, Fatihah, doa Iftitah dan tahiyatnya, tetapi tidak dihayati dalam solat itu.

Fikirannya masih melayang mengingatkan perkara dunia tanpa menghayati solat. Golongan ini dikategorikan sebagai solat ‘awamul Muslimin’ dan jika dididik serta ditambah mujahadah (kesungguhan), dia akan berjaya dalam solat.

* Jenis Keempat

Golongan ini baik sedikit daripada golongan sebelumnya, tetapi main tarik tali dalam solatnya.

Sesekali dia khusyuk, sesekali lalai pula. Apabila teringat sesuatu dalam solatnya, teruslah terbawa-bawa, berkhayal dan seterusnya.

Apabila teringat Allah secara tiba-tiba, insaf dan sedarlah semula, cuba dibawa hati serta fikirannya untuk menghayati setiap kalimah dan bacaan dalam solat. Begitulah sehingga selesai solatnya.

Peringkat ini orang terbabit akan mula memasuki zon ‘memelihara solat’, tetapi masih belum seronok dengan solat.

* Jenis Kelima

Golongan yang melakukan solat tepat ilmunya, faham secara langsung bacaan dan setiap lafaz dalam solatnya.

Hati dan fikirannya tidak terbawa-bawa dengan keadaan sekeliling sehingga pekerjaan serta apa pun yang dilakukan atau difikirkan di luar solat itu tidak mempengaruhi so latnya.

Walaupun dia memiliki harta dunia, menjalankan kewajipan dan tugas keduniaan seperti perniagaan, semua itu tidak mempengaruhi solatnya. Hatinya masih dapat memuja Allah dalam solat. Golongan ini disebut orang soleh.

Insyaallah, I'm preparing myself towards stage 5. I'm no perfect muslimah, but at least I'm trying here. To perfect my solat. Solat is the pillar. Therefore, the stronger the pillar is, the stronger the building is.

It is never to late. That is what I learn from my journey to Allah.

If you can be all glam up with high end clothes and branded perfumes to go out with friends and to just have fun, why won't you do the same when you perform the solat?
When solat is when you meet Him. Your Creator.

I find myself pondering upon my reading of Al Waqiah (56).
Where Allah has promised us the Inevitable Event.
The one who will receive the book of his deeds on the right hand or the left.

Ya Allah, nikmat yang Allah janji di sana tak terhingga sekali.
Leave it to us to find His blessings and forgiveness.

It is never too late.

Salam minions!

So, 2nd week in UMS. Let's see.
I have :

been running around with the certs and resumes to verify and to post it to the company I have applied. So far, I've got responds from 4 out of 5 companies that I have applied. That one last company, ironically is the one I'm dying to work in!
conducted SIFE's first meeting for the 2010 and have great plans with the team ;)
been training for the Mt. Kinabalu climb which is next month! I'm stoked but at the same time scared with my knee condition and that it would slow down my climb. Well no way I'm gonna let that happen!
missed a lecture. Thanks to yours truly for mistakenly copied down the wrong time table. And yes,instead of going for the 8am Petroleum Geology lecture, I went at 10! GRRRRRRR!

My 3rd day in UMS.

Alhamdulillah, everything seems to fall into place without me trying too hard to get them.
I thought I was the one falling at the back, while others have done more than what I have.
Certificates, resumes, etc.

My first lecture, Environmental Geology with Dr Baba was fine.
Had a good laugh though I was yawning in between slides.
;D

I have a lot to say, but today, my reflection is all about friends.
I am glad to have friends who always stand by my side, thick or thin.
Reminding me what I should do with me being forgetful and occupied , with my work.
Friends who laugh when I laugh and cried alongside when I shed tears.
Alhamdulillah,Praise be to Allah for friends in this campus.
Or else, I would be having a bit of a hard time going through my daily routines here (which I dreaded to).

Live this semester to the fullest, for it is our last semester together. As classmates and partners.

For the sake of self-satisfaction and expectation.

1. To not sleep after Subuh prayer. Recite Quran and study.
2. Evening jog. Minimum 30 minutes.
3. Cut down on the rice intake (the food here sucks anyways, so why bother eating right?)
4. Drink Green tea instead of Coffee.
5. Have more plain water.
6. Memorize important surah(s).
7. To keep my focus.
8. To not procrastinate (this is hard)
9. To not talk bad about people.
10.To be more organized.

Hari ke 5 dalam tahun baru 2010.
And here I am, back in my hostel in UMS.
Darn it.
I dreaded going back to KK.
I had to much fun back home.
Holidaying, chit-chatting with the family, learning Al Quran and Tafsir.
Mostly learning.
Learning how to be closer to my Creator.
Alhamdullillah. I now find solace and tranquility with His words.
I now find myself getting all nice and pretty just to meet Him during prayers.
I now know, I can only depend on Him.
Through thick and thin.
He will never, ever leave me alone.
I find myself crying at the prayer mat upon bowing myself down to him asking for his forgiveness.

Things I love about Sg Petani is how I can be myself when I'm here.
I don't have the urge to dress up much, I'll walk with whatever comfy clothes I have on.
And I love it for the fact that, every other time i drive somewhere, I'll definitely find food! :D
Good food is always a good pointer.

On a second thought, I do need a knee operation for my left knee.
It has been injured for quite some time and I mean a long time.
I have left it unattended. So, lately, it has been limiting my activities. Even simple ones like sitting down or folding my legs. Believe me, I'm having sleepless nights thanks to the knee.

Oh, one more thing.
Pray to Allah that I would pass my 5th semester exams. I don't have high hopes on the pointers but save me. 3 is enough. or just keep the records clean from any Fails.

I would like a hard drive before I left for KK. and beloved big sis is contributing to that.

I learned from a quote, "if you fail to plan, then you plan to fail"
(this quote was on my high school's wall for quite some time)

But what if you plan, and things didn't go the way you want it to?

You would feel ;
devastated, demotivated, angry, sad etc for the reason that you HAVE plan the plan.

I think that failures are God's ways to tell you that you should work harder than before to get what you want.
When all your efforts has finally been paid of, you will be grateful that God gave you the chance to explore the alternatives for you to achieve your goals.
Creativity comes when you're out of your comfort zone.

Perhaps, that is what I need now?

It's been a while since I last hit the keyboard and type words here.

I hate to rant nowadays.

I've develop lots and lots of silence.
I pause a lot before i speak.
I think in silence and love to sit by myself looking at people and things around me.
(I'm not crazy, i tell you)

I don't know.

I think I'm getting older!
Not that I didn't notice,
Just that its more obvious now and I can see it clearer.

Hello,I'm not getting any younger.
And any kind of cursing, bitching, impatience acts should stop right about now.
I'm constantly reminding myself not to expose myself to situations that will lead me astray and make me do things as I said above.
That's my goal.
For new years, and for now.
I should revamp myself and my soul.
Go on a lil journey and ponder on my actions.
Brush up a little.
And get closer to my Creator.

I think I'm much calmer now.
I speak less nowadays.
I speak when it is necessary because knowing my own nature, I'm very very bad tempered.

Its getting closer to the end of 2009.

What is it that I have done?
What are the good things that I have done and contribute to myself, family, and people around me?

Miri

I'm back from Miri's fieldwork with SHELL.
Sunburned.
Back ached.
And with pounding headache from the long bus ride.

I hate the journey.
I can't say anything else good about it, I'm sorry.
It was long and not to mention tedious with the alternating immigration check points!
Sabah-Sarawak-Brunei-Sarawak-Brunei and finally Miri!

See what I mean?

But the fieldwork was AWESOME!

It was sort of like an advantage for me, Karen and Anna because we're doing our Final Year Project in Miri and the experts are there to explain about the geology , tectonic, sedimentology and structural geology.

And so I paid extra extra attention. (especially at the Tusan outcrop which is our 2nd last outcrop for the day)

I think I got a bit of a shock when I found out that my area has a regional unconformity.
And I was like "Seriously?"
And if it wasn't pointed out by Maarten Wiemer, the fieldtrip leader who is also the expert in structural geology, I wouldn't have known about it!

Lessons learned :

The earth is one GIANT piece of puzzle to be solve.
One small piece of outcrop, is just one of the fragments of the puzzle.
Learn to observe and see from a bigger picture first before observing it from a close ups.
Form a story from the observations.

I still have a long more way to go and a lot more things to learn to really be a successful geologist. Really.

And I thank my lecturers who have given me the chance to be a part of this amazing experience and thank you SHELL's experts!

Shell Geological Trip to Miri starts on Nov 20.
Which is a long bus ride to Miri, crossing Brunei in order to get to Miri.
The real fieldwork is on Nov 21 where 30 of the chosen final year students will get to experience the fieldwork with non other than the expertise and geologists from Shell!

This, requires reading.
A whole lot of reading on sedimentology.

Excited?
Yes.

But am more excited for the trip back home.

I'm anxious to see what's in the magic box that my sister packed and mailed to us.

Apparently, my impatient mom already opened and went through all the stuffs.
Hint?
Handbags!
Yes, handbags people.

And that, I cannot wait!

And dearest sister is coming back soon.

The thing about people in a relationship is the emotional strains they have to undergo.
Admit it, whether you like or not, you fight occasionally, gets bored at times and sometimes Long Distance Relationship (LDR) makes it even harder.

But, I'm not siding any side here yea.
Although I'm single, its a been- there- done- that thing for me .

A relationship should :

helps you grow mature with different kinds of problems you two faced and handling it together helps the process
cushion the blow. By all means, one should help support the other. Especially, LDR.
nurture your responsibility and trust. To trust the other and being responsible in what ever you do and what ever decisions you want to make
helps you to be HONEST. being honest is what it is all about. You talk to your partner about everything, and be clear on every single thing so that no future arguments arise.
Whether you like it or not, relationship should have freedom and individuality. Your girlfriend doesn't have to like watching football even if you're so into it. She can go out shopping while you're at home watching the match. Fair enough, right?
be a sincere one. From the moment you made the commitment and commit to the relationship, you should be sincere in all the way.
Always and always pray if ever there's any obstacles along the way. Life isn't a bed of roses and so are the relationships you have. So, never doubt His power, for without Him you can do nothing and with Him, you can do ANYTHING.

And so my friends, have a healthy relationship. Nurture the good values, scrape of the bad ones.
Maturity, sincerity, honesty, trust and belief to the Almighty helps along the way.

Bad food was enough, but now the cafetaria uses the cheap kind of rice.
That doesn't really taste like rice.
More like pebbles in your mouth and you know what, I spat it out was like "I've had enough of this!"
Man, maggi is my last resort.
Or bread.

I don't think I'm gonna eat rice here in this freaking Uni anymore.
Specifically my hostel's cafe!

The last time I check, exams has never been this tedious and strenous to begin with.
I can relate my point above with Phynaz's thoughts about exam. Primary school's exam

What happen now is that, exams is not something that we, university students look forward to.
The preparation is life-challenging, the revision (don't make me start on that) and the exam itself is LONG!

I remember my preparation for the biggest exam in the whole life on a high school students, SPM.
It was a matter of life and death.
Tuitions, day and night.
Practice,
Exercise books, Past years..
ahhh, that's when I actually learn how to late night study.

And I'm typing this in the midst of reading my notes for tomorrow's 2 finals.
1 in the morning, my major.
And the other one is in the afternoon, my minor.

And tell me how can campus life be much funner that this?

Salam readers.

This is my parting post (I'm not moving anywhere alright?)
Just starting the hiatus for a short period of time.
Give it, a week plus?
Yeah.

I'm starting my final exam next Tuesday. and the papers goes on through out the week.
I have 5 papers, and 4 of it starts next week beginning on Tuesday, Wednesday and 2 on Friday.
I'm going loco people!

And of course, what's student life if its not without last minute assignment shit, ha?

Yeah, I'm having one unfortunately.
And I'm gonna finish it up ASAP.
Or else I won't be able to study.

Other than that, less than 3 hours of sleep, junk foods, loud stereos, caffeine and mood swings;

I always has this awful habit - Getting things over with.

When I find that the things that I'm doing contributes more cons than pros, I'll be sure to just get things over with.

I can afford to push myself over the limit, especially when time is on gamble.

I don't know whether this thing is good or not (but for sure its not), but I just don't care.
I'm listening to the voice in my heart.
And is asking guidance from Allah to guide me through the ordeal.

Just when i'm done with the thesis, I had to prepare myself for another last minute presentation (for the Geo Engine's lab).
I want to PUKE!
OH MY GOD.

What else, man.
Seriously.
I'm still stuck with the Lab report and now the presentation?
My goodness.
This, by far is the worst Final exam's preparation in MY ENTIRE LIVING LIFE!!!!

P/s : I am so stressed out that I didn't even know where to begin with (with the work, i mean). And bear with me, next few posts might sound similar to this one. Yeah, the one you're reading right now.

I blogged on how much I miss high school.
Yes.
I'm getting older I guess.
I don't know which one is worst, me missing high school or the Uni life is gonna be over in few short months.

I was talking to my housemate about how life is much more simple during high school and a little less dramatic compared to Uni.
Not to mention the excessive amount of workload ( when during high school, i thought the homework was already the worst ever! )
I guess, I have not been exposed to the real world just yet.
The final 2 years of high school was epic.
The struggle to survive SPM leads to tuitions round the clock, homeworks and reading notes while standing during the assembly!

The things we do to pass SPM with flying colors (and by flying colors, we're gonna look at the number of As, the scholarship ones get etc)
Competitive, i know.
The nature and vibe you will get if you're in my class 5Sc1 .
Some of us wasn't that studious you see.
We sometimes skipped classes, or played chess in the class, or eat!
LOL.
Ways to release the stress i guess.

Sigh.

primary school's chirpy kids. I was a prefect back then. and yea, we're friends up till now! :D

shen-ann, thanks. I took this from your blog. This 5 people completes my life and now we're scattered all around the world. Except Kristie and I, we're in UMS.

The last 3 photos are all taken recently, after all of us all went for their tertiary educations. Look how we've grown !

I'm feeling sentimental right now.

The thought of high school came across my mind suddenly.
That bittersweet 5 years of my life in that very high school.
The friendship.
How true and pure the bonding is.
I don't think I want to trade it for the world.

I learn how to be independent.
I juggled my time between my studies, tuition classes almost every day and my sports training and hell yeah I feel good about it.

I miss how all of us would sit in the class eating breads and study at the same time.
Pre- SPM jitters i guess.
How Caryn and I would chopped of the eraser to small pieces and throw it towards Shen-Ann and Kristie sitting few rows in front of us.
The early recess break. I'll tell the teacher that I'm gonna go to the loo 5 minutes before the class ends (just to get to the canteen early) and dragged Caryn with me!
Tuition classes on weekends,
and our class party in Penang.

Most of the friends I'm with are all my best friends back in Convent Primary School.
So close, up till now.

I miss all of it suddenly.

Am I getting old?

or is it because its so near to the end of my tiring University life?

I fell in love with the fact that everything, everywhere and everyone is so relax around here.
I don't feel the urge to rush to anywhere.
Really,
I felt content and satisfied with the time I've spent there.

Too satisfied till I was a bit of culture shock when I came back to my own home land.

I have so many things to be rushed about.
And I hate to type here , AGAIN.

I miss my athlete days.
When I represented the state and trained under the national team for hockey from Form 1- Form 5.
and i still continue playing for my university up till my first year.
Then, the knee injury have gotten pretty bad.
I sometimes can't walk because of it.
Operations is not an option for me.
I don't want to be postponing my studies.I want to graduate on time.
So yeah, I'm still living with the pain. All the time :)

I miss the time when we trained all day long.
I miss the sweat.
The training program that we was put under.
The coach screaming at the side line, pushing us over the limit.
I remember the many many injuries on my body and not to mention one on my forehead,
thanks to the hockey stick. That was when I was 16 years old. Playing for the state.

I miss the good old days.
I miss the training.
and I will and I can play again :)

Map, NOT YET!

argh, i'm dreading the map part, really!
Using corel draw software and tracing the map, so not my forte!

How I wish I can do it manually, despite the technology era where everything needs to be computerized.
:(

And by the way, finals is in few more days and I can't be bothered to study.
I'm stuck with the thesis, still and lab reports.
I tell you, student life is no fun when it comes to excessive amount of assignments and late night coffee run to study.
:(

I can't wait for this semester to be over.
and November, wait for me.
I'll be home anytime soon :)
